Winter Warmer
by girlinafoodfrenzy
I love a good Winter Warmer. Even better those great dishes tend to be a one pot wonder, are often hearty, economical and just plain delicious. Here’s a few which are on the current menu in our household!

making sure we eat our veggies, potatoes, parsnips, swedes & carrots…

home made bread, see here for more recipes

My devilled sausages are: a packet of beef sausages, tin of crushed tomatoes, chopped onion/crushed garlic and thyme. Finally sprinkled with parsley & baked for 45 mins in a hot oven. Add bread and say yum!

Finally, here’s a use I found for my Lamb Stock & bones from the other night’s Roast Lamb. With the addition of those chopped veg, some freshly shaved fennel and parsley as a garnish, we have dinner!
Hoping these winter treats keep you warm where ever you might be…
It all looks amazing, and your bread is unbelievably tempting! I’m going to try your sausage dish with veggie sausages, it looks so delicious and simple. We had six days of unusually warm weather in Scotland, and today it’s back to 10 degrees C, so I think I might be taking a big interest in your winter warmer recipes.
Wonderful! I’m very glad this recipe will come in use for you, though I do wish the weather would be better for your sake as its actually meant to be your summer of course! Devilled sausages are a favourite of my bloke and he just loves crusty bread, lots of thick tomato and onion and good sausages, well who wouldn’t I guess!
Thank you Alice, I have high hopes for the summer, this is just a little blip. I hope your bloke knows how lucky he is!
I figure the sun has to go somewhere so it’s just as well we’ve finished with it in Austrslia for the next few months or so!
I think he knows how lucky he is
at least, his eyes still light up when I bring out the food! Lol
That looks like the epitomy of comfort food! And, I do need to add swedes and parsnips to my collection of roasted veggies.
Thanks Robin, I know these aren’t the prettiest of veg but nothing beats the sweet caramelisation of a carrot or parsnip, esp when roasted!
It’s still pretty hot here so hard to think of requiring a winter warmer at the moment
, but these look completely delicious regardless!
I know! It’s the tricky thing with opposite ends if the season but I’m the kind of gal who still eats ice cream in the dead of winter!
Having said that, warm socks & soup are my latest trends…
Just looking at these tempting treats has made me feel much warmer
Yum!
Cheers

Thanks Uru, I imagine warm evenings with soup, stews and crumble with custard in both of our futures!
