Comfort food and comforting…
by girlinafoodfrenzy
Friday evening at home and I’m catching up with one of my bestie’s tonight. We’re both in need of some comfort food and for me, nothing says comfort more than Spaghetti Bolognese
My guys away and her guys away, so between the two of us plus a bottle of red, a bottle of white, some of the Upside Down, Chocolate & Pear Gâteau , a bit of catch up tv & gossip we should be fine!
For me there’s no secret method to producing a good Bolognese. It’s more about the time and the patience to let those wonderful ingredients do their thing in that pot! Nonetheless I’ll still outline what I like to put into my Spaghetti Bolognese, which you can find here.
Hope your weekend is off to a great start too…

Luckily I’ve got 2 Spanish friuends preparing me a Cena Espanola tonight.. For once, they told me, I get to enjoy and relax. If this wouldn’t be the planning I’d probably make a spaghetti Bolognese tonight too after this post of yours. How did you know that’s one of my favourite foods too????
How fantastic. I think if my pals were preparing a Spanish Feast I’d forgo the Bolognese too… I didn’t know it was a favourite of yours but it appears quite a few folks like a good pasta dish besides me, whew. I need my carbs, it’s winter here!
Didn’t you notice yet how many favourite foods I have?
:p
Tonight Croatia -Spain (Euro 2012) with a bunch of Italians (The Posse), I’ll be rushing after the match so I’ve requested the Sardinian Queen (our main chef) to make us a spaghetti bolognese… I’ll take care of a vega alternative for the 2 veggies. (Raining cats and dogs here too btw after I got burnt in the park yesterday)
Wow, that’s wacky weather. Sunburn one day and rained out the next. Mmm, spaghetti cures all rainy weather blues I think!
We didn’t do the Bolognese because of 22 people eating including a few vegetarians. But the pasta was excellent as always. I think I’m done with soccer for 2 years.
Your post made me want to start singing Billy Joel’s Italian Restaurant song. Have fun! Your bolognese looks amazing!
Thank you
it was a great night in the end. I didn’t know Billy Joel wrote a song about an Italian Restaurant, google search to the rescue…
That looks both fun and comforting, I hope you guys had a fun night!
It was a fantastic evening, we ate, drank, watched home renovation shows and finished up with an episode of Heston’s feasts and some of the chocolate & pear cake. Going to bed a little boozy tho…
haha that all sounds like the way it should be
Your night in sounds wonderful, very cosy and happy, and what could be better than watching a bit of Heston while wolfing some comfort food? Lovely!
