Canapé hour is here
by girlinafoodfrenzy
Do you like finger food? Are you the kind of person who relishes in Canapés when you’re at a fancy do and secretly enjoys appetisers for dinner? Well then… this post is for you!
It’s end of Semester this week and that means more assignments, written tests and the Practical! Have you guessed what I’m making for that class yet?
All you need is some fresh bread, good quality ingredients and to channel your inner food stylist!
Prepare some croutons, brush with some melted butter & toast in the oven until golden brown. Leave the croutons to rest whilst you prepare some garnishes ready for assembly. Perhaps some Melon & Proscuitto, freshly roasted Caponata & Asparagus spears, or a tried and true favourite, Smoked Salmon, Capers & Chives.
Either way I’m looking forward to that study break, Canapés for dinner…who would know!

I don’t like finger food…I LOVE it. Oh, to be a fancee lady who swans around at fancee parties where everything is but a delicate morsel. Sigh…
Me too Hungry Mum! I only had a few to practise today but (I know that in our test tomorrow) we’re doing both cold & hot so I might be a bit canapé’d out! But truly good wine & good food doth maketh the party!
Can never get enough of canapés my friend, especially as classy as yours!
Cheers
Choc Chip Uru
Thanks Uru. I’m yet to meet a person who doesn’t enjoy a few good drinks & nibbles!
They must love you in that class! Where were you when I was going to school?
Lol, thanks Robin! However I should add there are young chefs there, far more competent than I
What a great place to be a student.
Studying is actually a lot of fun! Not only what I’m doing, but challenging my mind & body to try new things, it’s really important
I love canapés! Such an easy excuse to have more than one
These look terrific.
Ooo, when it comes to canapés, I know that one is definitely not enough!
Best of luck in your test tomorrow, if you’re producing things like this you should shoot to the top of the class (if you’re not there already, which you probably are!). I love wee food like this, little nibbly things so that you can have lots of different tastes and textures at once. Yum!
Thanks Lorna! It’s been a busy day and the next couple are hectic at work but I think it all went rather well. I’m a little over canapés right now, but check back with me when I have a glass of wine in this hand! Believe it or not, there are many other students waaaay ahead of me too
I find that hard to believe, but if you say so….In any case, you must be the best at combining cooking and photography, I’m sure of that!
Aww, thanks Lorna! I certainly enjoy it too
Nice photos. The appetizers look tasty! Small treats are always nice…I feel like I can try more…but I probably just end up eating more
I know right, somehow not sure if I could do a match to beers, but hey, where there’s a will, there’s a way!
These look lovely! I’m so hungry right now…
Swap you for some Eggs Benny anytime!
Ha ha! Deal!
Yumm. Secretly, I could probably live off of appetizer trays and be quite happy.
Me too, at least they’re more filling than spheres, foams and gels! But not as pretty maybe?
A good friend from New Brunswick brought me some smoked salmon as a little gift. I’ve been trying to figure out what to make with it and I think I may have to make your canapes. I love the little flower pattern you’ve used for yours. I’m getting hungry looking at your lovely pictures!
Thank you very much! It’s actually a cookie cutter stamped into fresh bread. I also love the variety you get from a cookie kit! Imagine gingerbread men sandwiches for little kids
I think salmon was made for canapés! Hope you cure those food cravings soon!
Oh wow this all looks soooooo good! I’m inviting myself over for lunch
Hi Lauren, thanks for stopping by!
I adore canapés! And these look fabulous! I also love the new format of your blog. Almost like a magazine. Is it the delicious magazine from WordPress?
Hi Karista, thanks so much. The Canapés were practise for my end of Semester Prac tests at school, whew! Glad to have a few weeks off now. Re the new blog theme I just wanted to highlight the photos a little more and went with the DePo theme on WordPress. V glad you like, I’m really pleased for the feedback too
