My greatest love story of all… Brunch Time!
by girlinafoodfrenzy
Brunch time! There’s a myriad of brilliant recipes out there for these delicious snacks. Traditionally made with a combination of both buckwheat flour & regular and often served with sugar & lemon, jam or even sautéed ham, leek & gruyere.
What’s not to love about the versatility of a good crêpe.
Two of my favourite go-to folk are David Lebovitz and Joanne Harris-The French Kitchen Both have simple recipes and gorgeous pictures (of course!) Let’s not forget, they also have beautiful stories of the country and food that is France, too.

I’ve never made these with buckwheat flour before but they look wonderful! As you say, what’s not to love about a great crepe? Delicious! Great photos, too.
Hi Lorna, there’s a delicious mealy nuttiness to the batter. It’s incredibly moreish and quite dense actually. Crêpes are one of those foods I often dismiss because they’re so simple but when they’re done well, it reminds me why they never go out of fashion!
Very true, and I can well imagine the moreishness of these ones. I will have to find some buckwheat flour and give them a go. I’ve got a lemon that needs using up so it’s the pefect time!
That’s terrific Lorna. Nothing makes me happier than when people want to try an actual recipe and see how it is for themselves. I hope you like the Galette’s.
Oh….I love a good crepe. I think my favourite are the savoury ones…..I recently had an amazing emmenthal, caramelized onion and sauteed mushroom buckwheat crepe……unbelieveable! But…..my true love is Crepes Suzette….I know, very ’70′s….but what isn’t delicious about crepes in orange liquier sauce?????? Thanks for reminding me of one of my true loves too, Alice!
So welcome Carla. Crêpes Suzette is a delicious treat, I’ve yet to learn how to flambé in my class but I can’t wait to try! I love mushrooms too (as does my guy) if we had any left overs they’d surely be a savoury brunches other day, but whoops! We ate them all!
Oh, wow!
Thanks Robin, they were a little slice of heaven this morning!
I’ll bet!
Crepes–so hard to find out here in California! Will have to try them with buckwheat flour, since I can’t have regular anymore. Your photos are amazing, as always!
Thank you! I love this variety as its quite rustic and they’re so tasty. Sub out the (plain flour) for some rice flour perhaps? These are definitely some of my favourite food pics this week
Mmmm good crepes are so hard to find these days! Yours look perfect for brunch, so delicious – is if acceptable to eat them at 9pm as well?
Cheers

Always Uru. Hadn’t even thought to try them as supper but something tells me late night icecream wouldn’t go amiss either
OMG! To dough for! lol
Lol, yes they were
I have buckwheat left from making my pancakes a few days ago.. now I get to make crepes:D
I love their versatility! Blueberry buckwheat pancakes are a favourite treat, I think I’ll be heading to the dried berries aisle soon at the shops! Thanks for stopping by
