Spring has Sprung
by girlinafoodfrenzy
Wake Up! say the bees to my garden! Eat me, say those delicious alpine strawberries, (you know the ones, they’re the size of your fingernails but pack as much strawberry punch as you’d get in the larger berries.)
My chillies beg me to be stir fried and meanwhile, there are teeny-tiny, Tom Thumb tomatoes slowly making an appearance, alongside the onion sprouts & flowers coming into bloom.
Yes, as I write this it’s 21C outside (around 68F) and with it signals the end of winter, begone the cold!
I can already hear the folks exclaiming in the Northern Hemisphere, but truly with Autumn/Fall comes the beautiful medley of autumnal colours that Mother Nature loves to show off to us all.
Warmer days also signal lighter foods. Time to celebrate and indulge in these fresh vibrant greens in the shops & plethora of jewelled fishes from the fishmongers.
Sadly not all these lovelies are home grown, but I can guarantee they still have a special place in my heart and my tummy. Time for some Spring Feasting, salads & Seafood.

Looks like the perfect light dinner! I love fish en papillot. And mad jealous of your garden, can’t wait to see what you do with all those goodies!
Thank you Omeletta. I have to say I gobbled those strawberries in a flash and the tomatoes are going to take a little extra time. Hopefully I wont disappoint
Fish is so divine and what’s best about steaming it in a bag, is less laborious cooking, which means more enjoyment for me!!!
Everything looks so fresh my friend
6 days to go!

Thank you Uru! I hope you enjoy your little blog break and get to enjoy some holidays and ‘me’ time soon!
Alice, I loved what you wrote. It just felt so fresh since we have had so much heat this summer and none of us is appreciating it. It is always nice to know what we don’t appreciate is so eagerly awaited by so many. This cycle is beautiful. Those strawberries are absolutely the best. Those who don’t get them or even get to pick them are missing out. Enjoy the weather my friend!
Thank you so much! I’m so worried that my funny ramblings are a bit out of hand sometimes but truly, those first few strawberries and tomatoes of the season are a seriously good sign! Just as wonderful will be the cycle of cooler climates, comfort food and wintertime for you and many others. Tell you what, Christmas is coming too!
The thought of 21C being the start of your spring is just ridiculous from my point of view! I think we’ve only had a handful of days that warm this entire summer in Scotland. Still, that’s what I get for living in a cold climate. Your fresh foods look wonderful, and I love those little tomatoes. Enjoy your springing into spring!
it is a bit ridiculous and believe it or not, we had 26 as well recently! Doesn’t bode to well for global warming however, but I’m sure we’ll have a few more days of cold to kick us into gear before the real heat begins. As for Scotland, you do have the lush green and rolling hills to contend with
Enjoy your weekend too!
your fish looks delicious! heading over to your other posts to check it out!
Hi Amanda, thanks for stopping by. The fish is an old favourite but I figure everyone likes a good re-run once in a while!
Happy spring?!!
I’m glad it’s come already, everything looks delightful, especially those alpine strawberries.
Thank you! Very soon you’ll be writing of the Fall and next thing you know it’ll be snowing and Xmas! Geez how the year speeds by
Yes, yes, yes!–vibrant fresh greens and gorgeous fish. Your fish looks amazing! Happy Spring to you!
Thank you Sriprae! Hopefully you’ll be enjoying the colour changes of gorgeous mother nature soon!
Every time I get to use something from my garden, I get so excited. I’ve not purchased basil, thyme, or swiss chard in a while now. It’s kind of awesome. Congrats on what is sure to be an amazing haul.
I’d definitely say that’s a profilic garden! As for our home bounty it’s all from the balcony. Luckily we have terrific sunlight here so they’re happy little plants, for now!
