Seasons of Change!
by girlinafoodfrenzy
Red, Rubies of Strawberry & Rhubarb, flaky shredded coconut and golden toasted oats. Does this sound like the kind of breakfast which appeals to you? yes please…
There are those who enjoy the mornings, as they warm up slowly with the beckoning signs of Spring… Then there are others, who enjoy that slight chill in their mornings which signal the beginning of Autumn or Fall.
Either way, it signals the Season of Change… know what else signals change…moving house!
Yes folks, giaff and her guy are on the move! Long story short, our lovely home (aka rental) is being sold so it’s time for a change.
Spring cleaning, why not and let’s do the whole flat whilst we’re at it!
To fortify us for the home-hunt ahead we’ll need some serious fuel and the comfort of warm baked fruit, a crisp topping of toasted nuts & coconut, to assist our tummies.
Having revisited an old favourite recipe, (one of which I’ve enjoyed indulging in the past,) I can reassure you that this Stewed fruit & Toasted muesli (aka) Quick breakky crumble, is the more virtuous of the two, with no butter, little sugar and a big side of wholesome in the form of yoghurt, hold the cream…perfect for some ahem internal Spring Cleaning too!
And so, I apologise in advance for my soon to be absence between the mayhem and the packing and then the unpacking! Looking forward to seeing what tasty delights you have made, whilst I’m gone, happy cooking everyone!

Thanks Uru, it’s insane right now especially because I’m spring cleaning and packing as I go! I’m hoping to find lots of my kitchenware from a few years ago when we last moved, ha ha! Let’s hope I have room for it all
Yum, looks gorgeous!! I love how summery the red strawberries look, but then you added in a bit of autumn colour with the toasted muesli! Great idea!
That was just because I love all the crunchy bits! The colours are definitely reminiscent of summer though! Crumble’s perfect for transition weather eating
Yum, beautiful colors and gorgeous, delicious food! Have fun moving house! It can be a real pain, but I’m sure you’re very excited!
Thanks Jasline. Welcome home, after your journeys no doubt you’ve enjoyed baking up a storm again!!! Happy cooking
Looks absolutely delicious! Good luck with the house move
Thanks Nickki, it’s all about to get packed away. Feels strange to be starting afresh at the end of year. All I can say is thank goodness we aren’t moving near Christmas!
Yes Please, I will have what you are having for breakfast! Looks much healthier than what I have, and that is just coffee!! Change is good, so happy days to you, till next time!
Lol, well I hope you’re enjoying your coffee and I’m sure there’s a tasty something in your home too
Have a speedy, hassle-free move! We’ll miss you while you’re gone! Just saw rhubarb in Whole Foods yesterday and can’t wait to use some this fall. Best of luck on the move and I’ll eagerly await your next post!
Thank you! It’s the first day of Spring here and my first day of packing. I’m really looking forward to a big change so fingers crossed, I can survive without baking for the next week, lol
Be strong! You can do it! Just think how nice it will be to bake in your new place.
I’m already dreaming about the first meal al fresco on the terrace and a BBQ to celebrate!
Not a fan of rhubarb as you already know, yet this is tempting me…I think it is because of the strawberries and coconut.
I promise it’s tasty without, as for rhubarb we’re in peak season but I’m sure I’d enjoy it if there were only Berrie’s too. This is the (I’m being good version!) the full butter, sugar recipe is around too, but I will say both are equally tasty in different ways
That looks delicious and so beautiful! I really wish I would take more time to make breakfast’s like these…..but it’s always better when someone else makes it for you!
And good luck on the move…….hope is is speedy and not too traumatic!
Big changes always happen to shake things up! The breakfast bit is easy, motivating myself to pack room after room is not. Then after the packing comes the cleaning….
no more baking for a while…
Oh……I am sure one day you will be so frustrated with packing that something amazing will come out of your kitchen, even if its just a sarnie or something! Good luck Alice!
Thank you Carla! Enjoy the rest of your holiday and happy packing to you too
Ugh. Moving is the pits! Good luck with the process! On a bright note, breakfast looks amazing!
My kitchen & home are a wasteland. The fridge is filled with odds & ends, there’s only two bowls & two plates left in the cupboards and apples, cheese & crackers seem to be a staple at the moment, lol
Moving is the pits but once I’m settled at the end of this week, I’ll be a lot happier!
I love change! Good luck with your move, all will be well.
Thanks mama! The only thing more scary than clearing out and packing the kitchen, is my closet *gulp*
Packing is never fun, but I like that it creates fun and tasty recipes like this! Good luck with it all! x
Thank you! It’s been a bit mad here and my home looks like a dump site! I miss blogging and taking the time to cook a proper sit down meal. Sadly, there’s only a couple of mugs and plates now left in my cupboards. I dare say a week’s worth of sambo’s and salads aren’t going to pique everyone’s interests for a week!
hahaha I have a feeling you would still get pretty creative with salads so, blog away if you find a second!
You know I often eat left-over crumble for breakfast, so this recipe has my name all over it. Good luck with your move! Looking forward to future posts in your new kitchen.
Thank you, that’s so sweet! Yep, fruit and toasty bits are the best. Last sleep in our soon to be old home tonight
I’ll be cooking with a vengeance when we finally move tomorrow!
