When I was a Roller Derby kid…
I’ve finally arrived! that’s right folks, after a few weeks of searching, packing, inspecting and looking, giaff and her guy have moved all but two floors in the building! We have literally found an apartment that is similar to ours but bigger, brighter, better and (best part yet,) two bathrooms people.
I could weep with joy as I write this. I wake at 5:30am sometimes, only to do the dance of the morning routine to get ready in time for school/or work lest there’s a clash with the bathroom.
On another note, one of the joys about moving would be the treasures I’ve uncovered. It might have been silverware stashed away, (I wish!) Or platters that were mistakenly stored in a safe place, so safe of course I forgot where it was. Or better yet, a time warp moment harking back to those youthful days, some of which I mightn’t even remember…such as when I was a roller derby kid.
Whilst packing up our home I uncovered this little gem:
circa 70′s with my folks, back on a Saturday afternoon where skating and ice-cream were my choice of entertainment. That’s right folks, that was a toddler who just sped by in the learner’s rink and yes, you clocked her with an icecream too. Definitely Happy Days!
The other thing which will inevitably make me v happy is the amazing light, in the new open plan kitchen. The plants are still recovering and there’s a soon-to-be new BBQ on it’s way hurrah! I’ve even managed to clock some time with my gal pals before the weekend is over.
But it’s not all roses & sunshine. Did I mention there’s no gas as yet? Or that we’re yet to acquire a HDSL port for Internet, *gasp.* Which means cold showers (truly) for the next two days, and 3G only folks, no wifi!!! Combine that with my compulsive cleaning habit (aka my need to disinfect every known surface in the apartment) and you have a busy week indeed!
Alas, yours truly has a remedy and a way. I’ll be getting creative with the electric oven, jiggy with a dongle or (bluetooth hotspot at least) and a whole lot of easy made platters, antipasto with little treats, bubbly & nibbles to enjoy!
From the top:Camembert wrapped in baking paper, drizzled with extra virgin olive oil and baked with lemon zest & thyme. Semi dried tomatoes, boccocini & coriander. Baguette, olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
ps On a latter note, it looks like my sweetheart knows what he’d save first in a house fire. His first items to move were his deep sea/ocean fishing rods and his Mountain Bike, sweet, sweet luuurve…
