From Sydney-Australia, this site is dedicated to Girl in a Food Frenzy (aka Alice Lau)
Picture if you will, a sunny morning as a girl stands by her kitchen window. There’s a mixing bowl, a wooden spoon and various ingredients scattered about. She’s in her element as some quaint music plays in the background and she’s cooking, baking and generally making something delicious!
“I am that girl” and whether I’m cooking, baking, reading about beautiful food or looking at beautiful food, I am in my true element.
Surprisingly (or not) my family are from a foodie background. Dad’s a chef, my brother’s also trained as a chef, (well you get the idea,) this love for Food is truly in my blood!
10 yrs ago, I began my journey as a production designer in theatre here in Sydney. Today I continue my culinary studies (now a second year student chef at TAFE) and slowly but surely, I hope to combine all my great loves in design, food & styling.

Bought everything I need yesterday for tonight’s Oscar dinner. Approaching this with trepidation, though. In the past my crab cakes (and I LOVE crab cakes) have fallen apart once they hit the pan. Frustrating! Any tips on that?
@StephenKellyCreative, absolutely and I understand your apprehension. Once you have a high heat with the batter in the pan, I usually wait until the underside is slightly golden. Then let it cook for a couple of minutes (to dry the mixture out) and then flip over, give it more time if the cakes look too runny on top. A long palette knife helps or a spatula. I’m sending you cooking vibes as I write this, the importance is not too rush them in the pan!!!
Success!!! My crab cakes came out golden brown and tasty, and most importantly, they didn’t fall apart! Unfortunately, I was so busy cooking and trying to watch the Oscars at the same time that I neglected to take pics of the process. And then my guests (and myself) scarfed them down so quickly that, again, pics were neglected. Bu all in all, pretty successful! Oh, and I told my guests about your cool blog, so you may get some new hits! Thanks again!!!

Cool … great tips. I had a sneaking suspicion that 1) the pan wasn’t hot enough, and 2) I was flipping them too early in the process. I can feel the vibes … now I’ve got my fingers crossed!

There’s someting up with (redirecting to) your site! The whole weekend I couldn’t click on “your” notifications in my email when you posted a new post, I had to manually type in your address in Google, it didn’t even work from the browser. Now I have a Sh*## browser at home so I thought that was the problem, altough I had the same problem from the IPhone, but now at work with a good browser and an updated pc I have the same prob!
oh no! That’s dreadful! I I’ll have to try from my folks PC later on? Just on holidays and only just winding down, but (still chained) to my emails of course. I wonder if anyone else has had serious issues. Thank you very much for the heads up too…

I started my journey on blogging last year (during my first year studies at Tafe in commercial cookery,) then I expanded to my instagram addiction, this year, Vimeo and next year the world, (lol…joke!)
