Road Trip on the Central Coast NSW. A foodie’s adventures and road trip.
Better yet with my Sweetheart recently celebrating a milestone birthday the big 4-0, it only seemed appropriate to bring him along too.
On a 4 day eating adventure.
Our never ending fun-fest & my all time apology for the numerous times I took over our kitchen, for the blog of course.
Including the countless times I prevented him from eating our food whilst it was hot, whilst I snapped away those food photos, again for the blog you see.
Last but not least, for generally for talking about all things bloggy!
Make no mistake, there’s something exhilarating about packing your suitcase mid week and hitting the road.
One of the best things about getting out on the road, will be the people you meet!
Lots of interesting characters & friendly folk.
Better yet when they’re friendly foodie folk I’ve already met via my internet travels, such as the team behind Woy Woy Fisherman’s Wharf. I loved hearing their story from Sam, a third generation fishmonger at the wharf.
Nicola & her team at Rojo Rocket, make this the hidden Mexican jewel on the Central Coast.
For me, finally visiting/dining with Nicola & her team, was like being welcomed into an old friends home.
Albeit with a lot of Tequila!
If you checked out Taste of Sydney this year, you might recall they won the title for ‘Best Dressed’ Stall at Taste.
If it’s been a while since you last took a road trip in this great backyard we call Australia, then stop on by here, at VisitNSW
For my fellow foodies (aka,) everyone here reading this? Did you know that Tourism Australia is running an incredible campaign to put Australia on the food map. You can click here for more details.
Be sure to try the amazing Tuna Tostadas. I would drive for an hour & a half, for these alone!
There are so many delicious dishes, from the Steak char-grilled to smoky perfection.
The most meltingly soft and tender Pork, with a smooth as silk corn puree. Including their stuffed Jalepenos, which were outta this world and yes, I did mention Tequila before!
You cannot go past the Fisherman’s Platter at the Wharf. I’m yet to try whole blue swimmer crab anywhere else, as fresh and juicy as these. Bonus, they are licensed to sell Aussie Seafood to you direct from their wharf and it doesn’t get any fresher than when it’s pulled straight out of the sea. Literally minutes away.
My sweetheart & I went gaga for the Barramundi Spring rolls too. Order the Salty Apple dog, (just a tang of lime, salt & apple) and thank me later ;)
There are also daily chats with the local keeper from the Pelican Sactuary, (just across the water.) If you’re lucky you’ll be there at feeding time and get to see those big boys in action!
A big thank you again, to the team at Rojo Rocket for this amazing prize. Big love to our new Food Frenzy-friends on the Central Coast NSW & see you next time round.
Who knows what adventures will be afoot!
