Confession of a Cheesaholic…

20121018-215810.jpg

Yes that’s right folks, today we have the confession of a Cheesaholic

You know that skit with the Monty Python fellas, The Cheese Skit, Gloucester, Brie, Camembert, Stinking Bishop, Cheddar, Edam, Gorgonzola, Gruyere…well you get the picture, it’s a comedy sketch in which they attempt to name every single make of cheese in the world. Sometimes I am that gal!

Fact: my sweetheart once told me my handbag smelt like stinky socks…he just couldn’t appreciate the washed rind cheese I had bought that night for supper…

I often pass by the counter in the local deli or supermarket and immediately scour the shelves for my favourite Brie. Sometimes I bribe myself through those toughest of work days with the promise of some stinky fromage!

Today though, is the day I bribe all of you with the promise of a rich, buttery biscuit, filled to the brim with delicious savoury tones of cheddar and the like. I know, there have been other cheese biccies in the past here on the Giaff blog (link below at the bottom of the page…)

…but occasionally I want a re run and sometimes I want to refine and perfect something that already tasted good and hopefully make it taste even better!

Agree? then it’s time for some Cheese & Sesame Sables but be warned…one is not enough!

The Big Biccie baking relapse!

Big, goey, centers, these biccies have it all! I love an old fashioned biscuit or cookie, choc-a-bloc filled with yummy things. Oozey & goey, fresh from the oven.

I like to think of these sweet, sweet moments as my baking relapses where I channel my inner CWA lady or (Betty Crocker, if you’re in the states) and a little while later there’s a pile of delicious home baked sweets on a pretty plate, waiting to be devoured.

Who am I kidding? I have these relapses quite often and I’m not too sure there’s a cure for this! (Plus if there is, do I really want one?)

But I am hoping, that you dear friend would certainly want this. You can easily change it up depending on your needs, or likes. Don’t like PB, don’t add it in. Hate coconut, swap it out for sultanas…the choices are endless,

Got a glass of ice cold milk? Well then, you’re half way to these lovely Big Biccie Bites!

Because love flows, where my Rosemary goes…

I dried some lovely Rosemary whilst we were away on holiday and wanted to find a lovely alternative for their use. Too often I like to buy copious amounts of herbs, or simply give bunches of over used herbs from our balcony to my pals from time to time.

One such use are for these Rosemary Shortbreads and if the weather is anything like ours back home in Sydney, you just might need to warm that kitchen with the heat of your oven!

Rainy day baking

20120520-140828.jpg

I have a lovely treat for you today. Even better if it’s raining and you want to warm your house with the beautiful smell of baking whilst you ponder the rest of the afternoon. I think my guy and I will be spending some quality time with the couch, the heater and a tray of these Parmesan, Chili & Thyme Biscuits whilst he watches his Sunday fishing programs.

I might even survive River Monsters this time round… Actually, I secretly love that show. I find it quite informative to know exactly where I should and shouldn’t be swimming when I go abroad. Basically don’t swim anywhere after watching that show…
