Delicious Meal ideas & lazy Winter Weekends. Recipes to hibernate with in the cooler months.
We’ve been facing some eternally grey days here in Sydney. Over these last few days, I’ve looked outside at 10am, only to see the view looks more like 3pm.
It’s that soft light, which doesn’t quite look like morning or the afternoon.
Mostly, it makes me want to hide indoors with a cup of tea & my iPad, iPhone, book, food magazines, (you get the drift!)
This is definite pyjama weather. On top of that, it’s also the perfect time of year for slow braises, baking days and hugging something warm to your chest.
(Well, at least in the Southern Hemisphere that is! If you’re in the North, you could cook a feast, turn on the air conditioner to article and hibernate whilst you read this post!) ;)
One lazy weekend, my sweetheart and I barely moved from the couch. We plonked a nice big pot of this mulled wine on the table and slowly sipped our way through, with some dvd’s, (& chocolate of course!)
If you’re partial to a winter bevvy, with red wine, warm mittens and hugs, well…this mulled wine recipe is exactly that only in err, liquid form.
More recently, I wanted to revisit one of the better loved recipes (see here,) for this Braised Ham Hock in Cider
This time round, it was made even better with the addition of sweet cider.
If you love smokey, salty, ham flavours, with sweet & juicy plump lentils, well you’re going to luuuurve this! (Ps, your house will smell of Christmas!)
Last, but not least. There is always, always room for dessert in the giaff household.
More so for this giant bowl of Sticky Date pudding, which is soaked in it’s own self saucing Butterscotch Flavours.
These recipes will keep you going through any dull or grey days, for sure!
